The Department of Emergency Medicine at John Peter Smith Health Network in Fort Worth, Texas, seeks an enthusiastic medical educator to join our expanding residency education team. The EM program at JPS was established in 2011 as a fully accredited three-year program which has grown to 15 residents per class. The emergency department cares for over 130,000 patients annually, serving Tarrant County as the area’s only safety net hospital, Level I trauma center, and comprehensive stroke center.

The Assistant Program Director will maintain a full-time position in the Emergency Department at JPS and supervise Emergency Medicine Residents, medical students, house officers from other specialties, nurses, technicians, and other healthcare workers in the Emergency Department at JPS while on duty as the Emergency attending Physician.

Required Qualifications

Ideal candidates will have an established track record in education, teaching, research, recent scholarly activity, and outstanding clinical service.
Candidate must be board certified in Emergency Medicine (ABEM/ABOEM) and completion of an accredited residency program in Emergency Medicine.
Additional requirements include having three years prior core faculty experience, prior residency leadership, or completion of an educational fellowship or advanced degree related to education.
Must have a demonstrated interest and aptitude for residency education in Emergency Medicine.

Admission Rate: 23%
Patients/HR: 2-3
Physician Coverage:
- 90-94 hrs daily
- Mix of 8, 10, 12 hr shifts w/ overlap
APP Coverage:
- Main ED and Fast Track rotations
- 30 – 40 hrs daily
- 8 – 10 hr shifts w/ overlap
