Enhancing the Field of Emergency Medicine

We are committed to enhancing the Emergency Medicine field through various educational and research-oriented avenues. Unlike many other emergency groups, IES strives to be the community example of academic Emergency Medicine through the practical application of best practices.

Residency Programs

IES provides physician faculty support to three Emergency Medicine residency programs. In our highly supportive, mission-driven environment where knowledge sharing is key, residents flourish within our robust programs, which focus specifically on Emergency Medicine. Under the guidance of our Board-Certified Emergency Medicine Physician leaders, residents benefit from access to a vast number of patient encounters from multiple IES locations as opposed to experience within one hospital.

Fellowship Programs

Our goal is to teach current and future physicians best practices and show them how to be active proponents of change and improvement in their field by drawing upon a vast number of patient encounters and the experience of our tight-knit community. Leveraging expertise in clinical leadership strategy and knowledge translation, our ability to develop and implement evidence-based protocols is unparalleled.

Administrative Fellowship

Recognizing our ability to train and mentor young physicians in leadership skills, IES started an Administrative Fellowship in 2011. This two-year immersive program – designed for the young physician eager to become involved in leadership – provides training in quality programs, customer service, financial skills, and people management with an optional concurrent enrollment in a master’s program (MBA, MMM, MHA, MPH).

Administrative leadership of hospitals and emergency departments is a critical area of expertise and requires an understanding of the dynamic complexities in healthcare. This program facilitates the fellow’s education, experience, and knowledge of the complexities within the health care system. In addition, providing the tools and resources to be actively involved yet still under the mentorship of Physician leaders will reduce the learning curve for developing a successful Physician leader.
