ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Join us for the IES Clinical Integration Forum on the topic of Compassionate Conversations in the Emergency Department. This in-person and virtual education opportunity will focus on compassion and empathy, with educational presentations on the current best practice for serious illness conversations commonly encountered daily in the emergency department, utilizing compassion as the guide.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
- Discuss the basic components of the Serious Illness Conversation Guide and how it can be utilized as a part of a comprehensive compassionate care plan in the emergency department.
- Demonstrate compassion when it matters most: compassionately delivering the worst news.
- Review the barriers to compassionate conversations in the emergency department and strategies to overcome them.
- Discuss the dos and don’ts of compassionate statements in patient care as told by a Physician-patient.
