This unique leadership opportunity will be responsible for developing the new Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellowship program at Saint Francis Healthy System in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The program has been approved by the ACGME and welcome its inaugural class in July 2027.
This physician will have responsibility to identify and implement the clinical and educational goals for pediatric emergency medicine, while collaborating with our partners at Oklahoma State University to achieve educational, academic, and research goals. This physician will build a leadership team to develop and support the PEM fellowship program and serve as liaison with the ACGME. In addition to clinical service, academic responsibilities for the PEM Fellowship Medical Director role will include teaching multiple levels of learners.
Pediatric Emergency Department:
- 34,000 annual volume
- 28 hours of physician coverage, 30 hours of APP coverage
- Staffed by Pediatric Emergency Medicine physicians
- Region's only Children's Hospital
- 19% admission rate
- 23 treatment rooms & 2 triage stations
- 16 ED beds & 5 fast-track bays
Fellowship Medical Director Responsibilites:
- Provide on-site management of the clinical and administrative aspects for the Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellowship program.
- Assure compliance with ACGME standards and serve as liaision with ACGME.
- Manage the quality improvement plan including attending regular meetings and review of medical records
- Supervise staff, provide feedback, and assure provision of high-quality care
- Review the provider schedule and ensure adequate staffing
- Actively participate in the recruitment and retention of qualified physicians and support staff
- Serve as liaison between hospital administration and clinical staff and provide regular feedback to IES leadership
Required Qualifications
Pediatric Emergency Medicine trained
Active Oklahoma medical license, DEA & BNDD, or ability to obtain.
Previous experience as a Medical Director or Assistant Medical Director
