IES in collaboration with OakBend Medical Center is actively recruiting Emergency Medicine physicians to join an established ED group in a Southwest Houston suburb. Options include W2 or 1099; full-time or part-time. Group members schedule among three area ERs for greater scheduling flexibility, although 24 hour shifts at Wharton are not required. The two Richmond ERs schedule 12-hour shifts and Wharton schedules 24-hour shifts. A proportionate number of weekday, night, and weekend shifts are required.

OBMC Jackson Street Campus

·       16,500 Patients per year (~ 2 Pts./hour)

·       16 bed ED

·       120-Bed Hospital

·       APP coverage 40 hours/wk. (M-F noon- 8pm)

·       24-hour physician coverage; shifts 7A-7P; 7P-7A

·       10% admission rate; 5% transfers

OBMC -Williams Way Campus

·       11,300 Patients per year (~1.3 Pts./hour)

·       8 bed ED

·       57 Bed Hospital

·       Single physician coverage: 7A -7P; 7P-7A

·       10% admission rate: 5% transfers

OBMC -Wharton Campus in Wharton, TX

·       9,500 Patients per year (~1.1 Pts./hour)

·       24-hour single physician coverage: shift times 7:00

·       Physician shifts: Mostly 24’s; 12-hour shifts allowed

·       6-bed ED

·       40 Bed Hospital

·       Only MSU admissions (rehab program). Medical admissions go to other campuses.

About: OakBend:

OakBend is a non-for-profit independent health system comprised of two hospitals in Richmond and one in Wharton located in the outer suburbs of SW Houston. OakBend serves Fort Bend County and the surrounding region, providing care for all ages and proudly offer “no-wait ER services”. These are all Lev 4 ERs.  

 

Since 1947, OBMC has experienced continued growth, ensuring career longevity. Most recently, OBMC partnered with Sam Houston State University College of Osteopathic Medicine to bring an ACGME Accredited OakBend Family Medicine Residency Program. (first class of residents started in August 2024). The program represents a commitment to expanding primary care access while training physicians in a growing community.

Required Qualifications

  • BC/BE Emergency Medicine trained physician
  • BC/BE Family Medicine or Internal Medicine physician with one year recent and hospital ER experience in a comparable setting
  • Texas medical license (or ability to obtain)
  • DEA, ACLS, ATLS, PALS
  • NIH (stroke Certification)
