Baldwin Health is a 142-bed acute care hospital and Level III Trauma Center serving communities throughout coastal Alabama. Supported by more than 1,500 employees and an extensive network of medical clinics, the health system provides a broad range of inpatient and outpatient services, including emergency medicine, diagnostic imaging, surgical care, and specialty services.
The hospital's experienced medical staff represents more than 32 specialties, providing comprehensive care to patients across the region. Key services include a 24-hour Emergency Department, Baldwin County's only Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine Center, women's imaging, advanced digital imaging, an extended-hours urgent care and imaging center, and a freestanding Emergency Department in Gulf Shores.
Baldwin Health has earned numerous distinctions for quality, safety, and clinical care. It is the only Chest Pain and Stroke accredited facility in Baldwin County and one of just two Sepsis Certified facilities in Alabama. Emergency Department:
- Physician Coverage : 6AM-6PM; 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
- APP Coverage: 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM
- Approximately 80 patients per day
- 9 ED beds
- Approximately 5–7% admission rate
- Lower-acuity environment compared with the Baldwin Health main hospital ED in Foley
- Overnight coverage offers a more independent/solo-practice environment
- Physicians should be comfortable managing emergent airways
- On-site CT, ultrasound and X-ray

- Provided at no cost to physicians working 4+ shifts per month
Required Qualifications
- BC/BE in Emergency Medicine (ABEM or ABOEM)
- BC/BE in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine with 2 years experience in Emergency Medicine within most recent 5 years time frame
- Active Alabama medical license & DEA
